Vladimir and Raya Taft grew up in the Soviet Union where they endured state-sponsored antisemitism. Seeking a new life away from prejudice and persecution, they fled to the United States in the 1970s with little connections and no money. After many years of struggling, they met, fell in love, and built a successful American life together. In 2023, their two children Ben and Evelyn sat down and asked them to tell their story.
